New Pump Shaft on Wrong Side...

Just got a new pump delivered, the shaft is on the opposite side that I need it on for a pulley/belt drive I have. Is it OK to just take out the 4 screws and put the shaft on the other side? I did this with the last pump, but it never really seemed to work well.
